A total of 9 women became government representatives since 1961. Two were appointed to the Legislative council- Alice Wedega and Roma Bates (1961-1963); while the rest were elected,
Josephine Abaijah (1972, 1977-1982,1997-2002),
Nahau Rooney (1977-1982, 1982-1987),
Waliyato Clowes (1977-1982),
Carol Kidu (1997-2012),
Julie Soso (current),
Loujaya Toni (current), and
Delilah Gore (current).
Three (3) is the maximum number of women representatives at any one term, the first was in 1977. We need more female representatives.
